Dyslexia Sense can conduct full, diagnostic assessments for dyslexia. These are carried out by a specialist teacher and can identify if your child’s difficulties with learning are due to the specific learning difficulty (SpLD) dyslexia. They also highlight strengths and can help determine what type of learning is best suited to your child. Recommendations for further support and adjustments are included which can be shared with school to make learning more accessible.
If your child has been diagnosed with dyslexia or another specific learning difficulty, or they are struggling with reading, writing or spelling, Dyslexia Sense offers one-to-one, tailored support to ensure your child can make accelerated progress in literacy. Lessons are multi-sensory, engaging and fun using a wide variety of teaching methods and resources to suit your child’s way of learning.

Hi, I'm Rachel
I am a fully qualified, Specialist Teacher and Assessor with experience working in primary and secondary education settings, both in the state and independent sectors.
I have a PG Level 7 Diploma in Teaching and Assessing Learners with Dyslexia, Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs) and Barriers to Literacy and I hold a SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) with PATOSS.
I’ve always been fascinated by the way children learn and develop. Nurturing my own children’s development and watching them gain an understanding of the world around them is what inspired me to retrain as a Primary School Teacher.
I specialised in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and gained an in-depth understanding of the barriers to learning that some children experience. My desire to help and support neurodiverse children grew from there and now I am in the very privileged position of being able to work with and support these individuals to ensure they maximise their learning potential.

The Dyslexia Sense premises are situated in a purpose built, dedicated space to allow individuals to perform at their best. The light, airy studio provides the perfect environment in which to complete the tests needed to assess for dyslexia and to maximise learning potential away from distractions.

“Rachel, you are amazing and I can't recommend Dyslexia Sense enough.
My 15-year-old daughter, came to the lovely, homely summer house in August. Rachel carried out tests on my daughter, 3 hours long, I know 3 hours 🙈 but my daughter said they went by really quickly, she felt at ease and very relaxed, she was able to have drinks and snack breaks as and when she needed them.
Wow, what an in-depth report that came through about 3/4weeks later. It took me a few times to read the report to fully understand it, as it was so in depth and personalised to my daughter. I had to chuckle as Rachel described her exactly, down to every detail.
My daughter has dyslexia and now I have an understanding of how she thinks, acknowledges and processes things. I took the report into school, for them to read. We were lucky high school had already put certain things into place, but they have now taken on board all of the recommendations from Rachel, which will now help her with the rest of Year 11 and her future.
